Stop Rescuing Your Underperformers

It's 9pm and you're redoing work from two levels below you.

You're not managing an underperformer. You're manufacturing one.

Join Marty and Em for a live 2-hour workshop on the 7 leadership blind spots that create underperformance. You score yourself on each one, then leave with a personal report showing which one is keeping you in the detail, and what it's costing your team.

Somewhere on your team right now, there's someone who isn't delivering.

You know exactly who. You thought of them before you finished this sentence.

And if you're honest... you've been carrying them.

Redoing their work at 9pm. Softening the feedback. Waiting for the right week to have the conversation.

Every rescue teaches your team that delivery is optional.

Let's be real for a second

How many of these have you done in the last month?

You redid their work yourself rather than hand it back and explain it. More than once.

You softened the feedback so they wouldn't get upset. Then wondered why nothing changed.

You've been waiting for the right week to have the conversation. It's been months.

You stopped giving them the important work, and told yourself that was the kinder option.

Your best performer is covering for them. They haven't said anything about it. Yet.

You've run the conversation in your head twenty times, and never once had it out loud.

Find yourself

Which one are you in right now?

Six situations. Every one of them ends in the same place, and it isn't where most leaders think.

You're redoing their work at 9pm and telling yourself it's faster this way.

You can't take a fortnight off without coming back to a queue of decisions nobody would make.

You've had that conversation four times in the car. Never once in the office.

Your best performer resigned. The one you've been carrying is still here.

Six weeks into the new role and you've already found the person nobody dealt with.

One line of your last feedback is still bothering you, and you don't know what to do with it.

Different situations. Same root cause. This isn't a people problem, it's a blind spot problem. And a blind spot isn't a character flaw... it's a gap you can't see from where you're standing. Which is exactly why reading another leadership book has never fixed it.

So what do you do about it?

The instinct is to work on them. More coaching, another performance plan, one more chat about expectations. And when none of it shifts, you go quiet and absorb the gap yourself. Which looks a lot like leadership from the outside.

But underperformance isn't something that happens to a team. It's something a leader allows. Every time you rescue, you teach, and your whole team is sitting in the class.

Weak leaders

lower the standard to meet the performance.

Strong leaders

lift the performance to meet the standard.

So the work isn't on them. It's on the blind spot that let it run for a year.

Now, to be fair. Some of you genuinely do have a non-performer, and no amount of good leadership fixes that. But you can't know which one you've got until you close your side of it. And right now you can't see your side, because that's exactly what a blind spot is.

That's what these two hours are for.

What you leave with

Your Leadership Blind Spot Scorecard.

Most workshops send you home with notes. This one sends you home with a diagnosis. Here's what it looks like.

Your blind spot wheel

Ranked weakest first

Example scorecard shown. Yours is built live, scoring yourself as we work through the session. Your wheel appears on screen at the end, and the full report lands in your inbox.

Blind spot

It's already costing you trust, credibility, or results. Start here.

Development zone

You've got a base. Without focus it'll stall you. Sharpen it now.

Strength

Use it while you work on the lower scores.

How the two hours run

You don't take notes. You score yourself.

No 40-page workbook. No breakout rooms. No theory.

First up

You name them

You type that person's initials into the chat. Not their name. Just the initials. Everyone commits to one specific human being in the first sixty seconds, because a diagnosis about "my team in general" is worth nothing.

The bulk of it

The seven blind spots, one at a time

What each one looks like, what it's costing you, and why it's yours rather than theirs. No fixes in any of them.

As we go

You score yourself

You open a link at the start and score yourself as we work through each blind spot. It takes seconds each time. No workbook, no notes, no homework.

The reveal

Your radar wheel, on screen

You submit, and your wheel appears. Then one question: how much of that person's underperformance did my lowest score create? Your full report lands in your inbox.

Last part

Live Q&A

Your specific situation, worked through by Marty and Em on the day. This part isn't recorded, so it's worth being in the room.

What you walk away with

Two hours. One straight answer about how you lead.

Your own score on all 7 blind spots, out of 10, ranked worst first.

The single blind spot doing the most damage to your team right now.

What that gap is costing you. In hours, in delivery, and in the people you'll lose first.

Whether you've actually got a non-performer, or a leadership gap wearing their face.

Language for what you've been doing for the last eight months without a word for it.

Live answers to your situation from Marty and Em in the Q&A.

Straight talk

Is this actually for you?

Come along if...

  • You lead people, and at least one of them isn't delivering
  • You've had the same conversation about the same problem more than twice
  • You're doing work that sits below your pay grade, and you know it
  • You want to lift the bar without turning into a micromanager
  • You're prepared to score yourself honestly and not enjoy the result
  • You'd rather know the real problem than be handed a to-do list

Give it a miss if...

  • You want a workshop that confirms the problem is your team
  • You're after theory, models, and a certificate
  • You're not willing to change anything about how you lead
  • You've never led anyone. The frameworks won't land yet

Marty Moore & Emma Green

Co-Founders, Your CEO Mentor

Marty spent 30 years climbing the ranks, then ran a multi-billion dollar company as CEO. He grew EBITDA from $17 million to $441 million in five years. He walked into that job with no technical expertise in the industry at all, and he puts the result down to one thing. Leadership.

Emma is his daughter. She had her own marketing career running when she talked him out of the CEO seat and into starting Your CEO Mentor in 2018. Eight years and thousands of leaders later, she knows what actually lands with a leader on a Monday morning, and what doesn't.

Between them, one has run the business and the other has taught the people running yours.

The seven blind spots in this workshop came out of that. Not out of a textbook.

Questions

The ones we always get.

Is this really free?

Yes. Completely free. At some point during or after the session we'll share ways you can keep working with us if you want to go deeper. But the focus of these two hours is giving you a straight read on your own blind spots.

Will anyone see my scores?

No. You score yourself, for yourself. Nobody is put on the spot and nothing gets shared with the room. The value is in being honest, not in scoring well.

Do I need to do anything before the workshop?

No prep required. Just turn up with one person in mind. You already know who. Have your phone or a second tab handy, because you'll open a link at the start to score yourself as we go.

What if my underperformer really is the problem?

Some of the time, they are. Some people are in the wrong seat and no amount of good leadership changes it. But you can't know which one you've got until you close your side of it, and that's what the scorecard shows you.

Will there be a replay?

Only if you register. Everyone who registers gets the replay, whether you make it live or not. But the Q&A isn't recorded. If you want Marty to work through your specific situation, you need to be in the room.

How long is it?

Two hours. [DATE TBC], [TIME TBC]. Block it now.

Is this right for me?

It's built for leaders of leaders. GM, Director, Head of, or anyone running managers rather than doers, and accountable for results you don't personally produce. The real test isn't your title though. It's whether you're carrying someone right now, or you're the one absorbing the gap when work doesn't land.

What if I can't make it live?

Register anyway and you'll get the replay. But make the effort to be there. You can't score yourself properly while half-watching a recording, and the Q&A only happens once. The recording is good. The live session is better.
